JoZee (aka Josie Aiello) is an internationally recognized, award-winning singer, BMI songwriter, performer, and vocal arranger with three self-titled albums. She began performing at age nine in her parents’ Sicilian restaurant in Chicago, earning early acclaim for her powerful vocals. A graduate of Chicago’s Academy of Performing Arts High School, she received a full scholarship to DePaul University School of Music.
Her session work soon attracted top producers, including the late Phil Ramone, who introduced her to Andrew Lloyd Webber—leading to recordings for Starlight Express—and later to opera legend Plácido Domingo, with whom she recorded a duet. JoZee discovered a passion for songwriting and relocated to Los Angeles, where her songs “Heavy Heart” and “The Call” earned top honors in the U.S.A. Songwriting Competition. “Heavy Heart” eventually landed her a deal with Quincy Jones’ label and Warner-Chappell Publishing.
While writing for her debut album, she contributed vocals to major soundtracks (The Out-of-Towners, The Guardian, That Thing You Do, Respect) and recorded demos for stars including Whitney Houston, Cher, J.Lo, Enrique Iglesias, and more. Despite her success, JoZee felt unfulfilled, sensing a deeper calling for her music to reflect her spiritual journey.
In 2012, a turning point came when a friend helped her realize that faith in Jesus wasn’t about perfection. This revelation led her to embrace her relationship with Christ and record her first contemporary Christian album, Ashes to Beauty. The album features “First Love Letter,” a duet with Jamaican gospel artist Prodigal Son, produced by award-winning Jamaican musician Danny Browne—whom she met through her Jamaican husband.
JoZee and Browne’s collaboration sparked a series of reggae-influenced gospel tracks, including covers like “I Won’t Last a Day Without You” and “Jesus Is the Answer,” now favorites on gospel and reggae stations worldwide. The duo is currently working on a new album set for release in late 2025, featuring collaborations with artists such as Papa San and Prodigal Son.
